Greetings all!
I hope the newsletter finds you all well. We have recovered from the "Hurrication" (as my BFF from Austin, Tari, calls it). We evacuated Thursday before last (Sept. 11) to Haskell to escape the storm. We visited and had a grand ol time in Haskell, Texas. Good food, good fun, good friends and family. We ate and ate and ate at all the good greasy hole in the wall joints I missed so much. Then woke up to Dad (my Dad, JW) cooking eggs, bacon, sausage and oatmeal every morning. Louetta even made us a wonderful dinner of roast and potatoes. Yum Yum! So needless to say I didn't get in many 4a.m. workouts like I do here in Houston. I was back at "home" living the good life on "Hurrication" while storms were reigning havock on the big city.
We headed back to Houston Tuesday but still didn't have electricity so we moved in with Uncle Marty in Deer Park. We had fun there playing in leaves with the girls, taking walks through the cul-de-sac and driving Uncle Marty crazy. We finally got our electricity turned back on Friday morning...man was it good to be in our own home. We had no groceries and no cable but it sure was nice to sleep in our own beds!!!! Thank goodness we live in North Houston because the south got hit pretty hard. We only had a couple of fences down in the back and small limbs displaced. Some neighbors lost huge trees and suffered roof damage. All-in-all we fared well and are so very thankful we still have our house to return to. So many people weren't so lucky. Please keep those that lost everything in your prayers.
We are so blessed to have eachother and family to lean on through times like these. To all those in Haskell and Uncle Marty, thanks for taking care of us all! We appreciate each and every one of you! It was so great to see you all. To those we missed, we'll catch you on the next trip. Love to all!
