Finally an update on the Garretts

Happy Holidays to all! Can NOT believe Thanksgiving has past and Christmas is around the corner. Of course we had a very nontraditional Thanksgiving since Christian was in California and Roar was in Dallas, it was just me and Bella. We shared a baked potato for dinner. All I could think about was all the deserts we were missing out on. LOL! And I really did miss my family. It's funny how you can spend everyday of the year together but on a holiday if everyone isn't together it can be the loneliest time. I truly am blessed to have friends and family it's just a shame that none leave anywhere near us. I did get to go on a fabulous trip to Santa Barbara, California for 5 days with Christian. He flew me up on Sunday, then he got stuck on the rig so I was there two days by myself. I did alot of soul searching in two days which included: the day spa in the hotel and shopping downtown Santa Barbara. And it is well with my soul...I did go running one day on the beach and hiking up the mountains on another. Talk about rejuvenating. I could totally live there in Cali...I would be very broke, but I could do it. ;-)When Christian did finally get back to land we had an amazing time just the two of us.

Christian finally made it home after three weeks there in Santa Barbara. We are now getting ready for Christmas, we won't be going back home this year so it will be another very nontraditional holiday. So if anyone has any cool ideas on things that you do with your family on Christmas please feel free to share. This will be a fun year with Bella since she is old enough to unwrap her own gifts. As for Roar, she is just adding to that mile long list daily. Wants just about anything and everything as does every 10yr. old. As the days go by and the weather gets colder and the holiday music plays, I am really starting to get into the spirit.

I have good news about my TExES/EXCET test...I passed! Woohoo! I will start student teaching in January which means I will be leaving my job at Region 4 which I really do love. I am sad to leave but excited for this new adventure. Roar has been begging me to be a teacher for years so for my kids I will go for it. And for summers off and my sanity I will sacrifice the corporate world. LOL! (What a major sacrifice.) That's pretty much all that's going on in the Garrett world. Other than that Roar is standing tall at 5' begging to wear shoes out of my closest daily and Smelly Brooke is talking talking talking. She is such the MiniME it's scary, but oh so fun. Life is good and we are healthy and happy. WE are truly Blessed!

I hope you all have a Fabulous Holiday! WE take family pics this Saturday so Christmas cards may be New Year's cards from the Garretts.

Love to all and miss you all so so much!

The Hurrication

Greetings all!

I hope the newsletter finds you all well. We have recovered from the "Hurrication" (as my BFF from Austin, Tari, calls it). We evacuated Thursday before last (Sept. 11) to Haskell to escape the storm. We visited and had a grand ol time in Haskell, Texas. Good food, good fun, good friends and family. We ate and ate and ate at all the good greasy hole in the wall joints I missed so much. Then woke up to Dad (my Dad, JW) cooking eggs, bacon, sausage and oatmeal every morning. Louetta even made us a wonderful dinner of roast and potatoes. Yum Yum! So needless to say I didn't get in many 4a.m. workouts like I do here in Houston. I was back at "home" living the good life on "Hurrication" while storms were reigning havock on the big city.

We headed back to Houston Tuesday but still didn't have electricity so we moved in with Uncle Marty in Deer Park. We had fun there playing in leaves with the girls, taking walks through the cul-de-sac and driving Uncle Marty crazy. We finally got our electricity turned back on Friday morning...man was it good to be in our own home. We had no groceries and no cable but it sure was nice to sleep in our own beds!!!! Thank goodness we live in North Houston because the south got hit pretty hard. We only had a couple of fences down in the back and small limbs displaced. Some neighbors lost huge trees and suffered roof damage. All-in-all we fared well and are so very thankful we still have our house to return to. So many people weren't so lucky. Please keep those that lost everything in your prayers.

We are so blessed to have eachother and family to lean on through times like these. To all those in Haskell and Uncle Marty, thanks for taking care of us all! We appreciate each and every one of you! It was so great to see you all. To those we missed, we'll catch you on the next trip. Love to all!

Can you believe Roar is in the 4th grade?

Hey Gang!

Can you believe Roary is in the 4th grade...we can't! AND she'll hit the double digits in two weeks (10)! OMG! Where does the time go? She is getting so tall and so, uhhhmmm...how do you say...SASSY! You would think she was 20 and Lord knows Christian and I have never been 10 so how is the world could we understand the issues in her world??? OH the drama! :-) I just have to laugh cause I can remember doing the same exact things she does, she is so ME it is ridiculous but really funny at the same time. I wish my mom was here so I could apologize profusely for the way I acted cause man am I paying for it 10 fold. LOL!

As for Belly, she is still Large Marge, who is definitely in charge. It's her way or the highway. It is so comical to watch such a little person have such a big attitude. But at the same time, she is so sweet and loving. She still favors her daddy over anybody and doesn't let him get far. And sure doesn't let him share hugs or kisses with me or Roar. She blows her top if we get anywhere near him, that's her dad and she isn't sharing. Everything else of hers you could have, but dad - NO! She still dances and sings all the time, just like Roar. I wish I could put up a hidden camera in to record the two of them gettin jiggy wit it. It's too precious!

"Go Go" as Smelly calls her (our Aupair/nanny), will be starting back to school in October. She has met many friends and has been getting to actually have fun on weekends. In addition to making my life easy. I come home and the kids are happy, the house is clean and laundry is done. What more could a girl ask for...a super nanny that cleans is pretty much top of my list. I would take that over diamonds any day! :-) But don't tell Christian I said that.

C had sinus surgery yesterday and is recovering well, hopefully this will eliminate all or most of the sinus/allergy issues he struggles with daily. Bless him! Me, I'm just livin the good life. Lovin my family and the simplicities in life, such as my children laughing and singing, my husband being goofy but adorable, and my sweet Aupair making my life less stressful. Good Health and a great family is all I need. What a Blessed life I lead! I pray this finds you all well! Keep checkin in for the latest updates on the Garretts.

It's been a while!

Hey Gang!

It's been a while since our last post. Not much is going on in the world of the Garrett's. WE spent weekend before last at the Garrett Farm in Burkville, Texas (way down yonder in the Paw paw patch). A good time was had by all, other than sleeping with one eye open in the bunkhouse (hoping nothing furry or insecty crawled under the covers with ya)we had fun. We went boating on Taledo Bend Lake and hung out on a private beach, then road Uncle Scott's go cart/dune buggy around the property which was a blast. It was great to just chill out and enjoy the Hot HOT weather and great family fellowship.

Bella Louella aka Large Marge who is definitely in charge is all over the place and is sooooo much fun. She can say half of her ABC's and count to 3 and sings songs all the time. If you didn't know better you would think the 16month old was at least 2, not just by her language and communication abilities but also by her 28lbs. frame. She keeps us smiling and running!

Roar is getting ready for school which is right around the corner. She will be in the 4th grade, if you can believe it. She wears a size 7 woman's shoe and last measurement she was at my nose so I'm sure it won't be long before she towers over me.

Christian went to London a couple of weeks ago and was headed to Alaska this week. I am not sure if he'll go ahead and make the trip though, we woke up Sunday morning and his truck was missing from the drive way and the thieves damaged my car trying to get it out, it was between our boat and my car. Along with the heartbreak of his brand new truck being stolen, his custom ordered Titleist AP2 golf clubs where in the truck as well. What a horrible feeling to walk out and discover your belongings missing. We weren't the only ones that got hit, apparently the car thieves went around the neighborhood stealing Toyota's and what they couldn't hot wire they stripped clean. Having something taken from you (in your own driveway) is one thing, but then dealing with the inconvenience of replacing it, time and money spent to file reports and claims is just ridiculous. Anyway, we are all okay and that's what matters most. It's steal heartbreaking but I guess life goes on.

Other than that drama,we are working on Smelly Belly's room (we had just went to Lowe's Saturday and stocked up on paint and supplies spending money we had put off spending for three months and of course thieves got all that in the truck too). But what we did get unloaded and done in her room looks good, I'll send pics when we are done. Well I'll go for now. Scroll down and check out the latest pics of the girls. Hope everyone is well. Love to all!

Cheers!

HOla mi familia

HOla mi familia~

We survived vacation! I thank God we made it to and fro safely. We had an awesome time traveling and singing, Bella found her new favorite song and will sing it and sing it and sing it. She woke up one morning and we put her in bed with us and she layed on Christian chest and started singing "la la la"... it was adorable. I can turn it on and she stops whatever she is doing and runs to me and starts singing and dancing. Too cute!

Florida is a beautiful state and I am really glad we decided to drive. Me, Roar, Glo and Bell got to see Louisiania, Mississippi, a little bit of Alabama and alot of Florida....we crossed lots and lots and lots of water. None of us girls had ever traveled East before. It was pretty cool. DAddy did an excellent job of driving and we all still loved it eachother once we reached our destination. Although Roar got in trouble many a time for saying "Where are we?", "How much longer?". She got to were she would ask then say, "oh, never mind, don't answer." Belly did awesome traveling, she only fussed when she was hungry and needed to stretch her legs. Glo was an awesome travel partner as well, despite all the English (bad words)she learned from Christian on the drive, I think she had a really great time. She was a huge help with Bella...huge. Bella, being Large and in charge, it was nice to have an extra set of helping hands. All in all we had a fabulous vacation. Be sure and check out the slide show. Hope everyone is well. Love to all! ~Dee

Garrett Update

Hey everybody!!!!!! Well the countdown is on...we are getting ready to head to Orlando for a fun filled week at Mystic Dunes Golf Resort. We went shopping this past weekend to get ready for our week of good eatin, good golfin, and lots of loungin. We are packin our new bathing suits and sandals and headed for some fun in the sun. Since the majority of us have rarely been out of our home town, we have decided to drive it making several stops along the way to take in the view and site see. It will be interesting traveling with our Costa Rican nanny, a one-year old and a very spoiled 9 year old. IF we aren't bitter enemies by the time we get to Orlando we may have a great week. LOL! I have faith that we will have fun times ahead, please pray for daddy's patience and our safety. Teehee!! :-) I think I will go purchase some headphones for the kids and earplugs for dad. Too bad they don't sell porta potties that you can stick in the back of your truck. Cause we all dread telling dad we gotta go. :-0 I can hear it now..."AGAIN!!!!! NO MORE drinks for anybody!"

As for this past weekend, we spent Saturday afternoon with the Myskas at the Myska ranch and it was fun, fun. We laughed with cousins and got some baby lovin while there. Our 3 week old cousin, Reid, was there along with Tamera and Mark, Tommy, Michele and Toby, Delores, Beth Tammey and the new hubby, Noreda, James, Phebie, Sharon, Bill, Uncle Wendil, Dalphine and Gary and Barb...my apologies if I missed someone. I spent most of my time chasing Bella around Dalphine's beautiful new house hoping the Tazmanian Devil didn't break anything while Christian and Roar relaxed and fished by the pond. Therefore, I didn't get any good pics of the fam. Next time I'm fishing and relaxing and taking pics to share on the blog. DAddy's chasin. Ha Ha!

We had a great fathers day, we had breakfast at Denny's (it's a traditional thing starting way back when we lived in Abilene) then headed to Academy and an Awesome new outlet mall in Houston. Christian bought us all goodies cause he said without us he wouldn't be a dad. Isn't that sweet?! OF course this is after he got new special order, custom fitted Titliest irons, wedges and a golf bag in addition to a whole new golf wardrobe. :-) All in all we had a great day and are so thankful for our daddy!!!!! Hope you all had a great weekend. Happy Father's day belated to all the dads out there. I will post pics of the Griswalds aka Garretts family vacation after next week. Pray that after our long road trip they don't close Disney World for renovations. Ha Ha! That would so NOt be funny but so be our luck. Hope you are all well. Would love to hear from you! Love D.

Glo has Arrived

Hello from the Garretts! Hope this update finds everyone well. We are fabulouso! Our Aupair (live-in nanny) flew in from Costa Rica last Thursday and we had an awesome Memorial day weekend. What a blessing to have Glo, she is WONDERFUL! We already informed her that she can't ever leave. She is teaching us all Spanish and we are teaching her English, I don't know who laughs at who more. We laugh at her then she laughs at our made up Spanish words. For some dumb reason I just think if you add an "el" and an "o" to a word it becomes Spanish. El understando? It's funny to hear all the crazy talk around the house. We are having a great time and enjoying the new addition to the family. Soooooo glad to have found GLoriana (Glo)!!!!!!!!

We went to Roar's swim meet Saturday and man was it HOT!!!!! Even though we were hot and miserable it was fun watching the kids swim and cheering them on. Roar did well and is improving her times with every meet. She is also driving a golf ball 125+ yards. The girl can play some golf. She is very excited to have Glo here, she thinks she now has a big sister and is loving every minute of it.

Belly is runnin and gunnin. She loves to swim and looks adorable in the little "kibini" (bikini). She is talking up a storm and loves to boss everyone around. Her favorite words are "Momma...No No No" while pointing her little finger and giving me a dirty look. She counts to "twee" (3) and sings in many languages (none that we can officially identify yet).

Christian will be heading to Brazil soon and we all will be off to Florida the end of June. We are definitely looking forward to a vacation! My job is still great, we are doing a big photo shoot for our 2008/2009 Marketing pieces and catalogs so those of you that teach may see Roar is text books, catalogs, posters, etc. Neat perks of the job! I would love to hear from you all, email me updates on your families deannegarrett0502 at yahoo. Be sure to check out the new pics above. We ate at the Aquarium downtown Houston Saturday night so some pics are from there. Others are just random photo ops. Have a great day. Blessings to all!

Garrett May Newlsletter

Greetings Friends and Fam!
Can you believe it's May? I am just in AWWW of how fast this year has flown by. We are all doing well. Roar is involved in Swim Team and will be swimming 5 days a week until the end of June. So most of our afternoons are spent at the Country Club and Saturdays at Swim Meets. She has also taken up golf. So after school dad and Roar spend a hour practicing on the driving range then she goes and swims for an hour at the pool. Needless to say the girl is exhausted by the time we get home in the evenings. She is loving both sports and would rather be doing one or the other more than anything else. Christian is an avid golfer as well and spends 6-7 days a week playing and is loving being able to take Roar with him. HE and our neighbor take Roar and the neighbor's daughter Amelia out to play weekly. He is trying to get me to play but you know... it gets really hot and I just rather lay by the pool or enjoy the indoors rather than swinging a stick and getting all sweaty. Ha Ha. I am sure I will end up playing by the end of the summer BUT only if I get a cute wardrobe and matching clubs. LOL! :-)

Smelly Belly is growing like a weed and is smarter than the average Bear. She can wiggle her way into anything and everything and it's her way or the highway. She is showing many signs of being just as high maintenance as Roar (okay... And me). She loves to wear my jewelry, carry around a purse and look at herself in the mirror. (Now where in the world could she get those traits from???) She is talking up a storm and repeats everything. She loves her "Tita" (Sister) and will crawl up the stairs to Roars room so fast we never even realize she's missing. She has a boyfriend (Grant) that she adores and her sitter (Ana) says Bella bosses Grant around and he just follows her like a whipped puppy (That's my girl...Large and in charge!). We will be getting our Aupair (live-in nanny) from Costa Rica next Thursday and we are all sooooo excited. I have been working to get her room ready and talk to her daily, anxiously awaiting her arrival. The more I talk to her the more I love her. She is a precious girl that has all the same likes as Roar and I. Poor Christian, yet another girly girl to support. Speaking of Girly Girl, I had a birthday this month (29, incase you're wondering) and my sweet husband bought me a day at a beautiful spa which has been my dream my whole life! I am soooooooo excited about getting that scheduled and spent. I spent many years without a birthday so I feel I have earned this very special gift and I am sooooooooo thankful for it!!!!!!!

Well, I hope the newsletter finds everyone in good health. The Garrett's are going and blowing and lovin life. We thank God daily for our health and our good family and friends. Please keep in touch and be sure to check out the new pics posted.

Love to all!!!!!
Dee

Here are a few pics from Field Day 2008. At Owen's Field day they do alot of relays and water events more so that individual events like some of the other field days we have participated in. It's basically a day of fun in the sun more than a competition. Enjoy the pics!
